TeleAdapt Mini DisplayPort adapter sends USB audio over HDMI
TeleAdapt has launched the Mini DisplayPort and USB Audio to HDMI Adapter, a new cable that enables Mac owners to use an HDTV as an external monitor. Unlike typical adapters that send just the video signal, the TeleAdapt adapter uses USB audio to combine the audio and video signals through the same HDMI cable. It is capable of connecting any Mini DisplayPort-based MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or iMac computer, with supported resolutions up to 1080p.
The converter is powered via USB, eliminating the need for an additional AC adapter. Uncompresses two-channel audio is supported, such as LPCM.
The new HDMI adapter can now be purchased for $40, which includes a one-year limited warranty for both parts and labor.
