Gmail is the TwitFacePlurk New [Gmail]
Facebook might be the new Gmail, but now Gmail is the new Facebook, bitches: They’re rolling out an update that makes it “easier and faster to share media and status updates with friends,” in a new module that shows a stream of status updates. And it’ll integrate YouTube and Picasa, somehow. Say it with me now: FacemailGtwitbook. That is the future. [WSJ]

Until there’s something better than Friendster, I’m not biting.
OMG! Ponies!
@CommentingpointlesslyisMeh: That makes two of us, at least.
chauncy that billups
@t.l.p: I’ve never understood the need for it. Facebook status I can understand, but I don’t go on the site because of it. There was a blog I used to follow, but the person switched over to Twitter when it was new. I haven’t followed it since.
genpetahhhh
@CommentingpointlesslyisMeh: That is a good use, but how often do you see productive, useful comments? That aren’t (in your words) meh?

What are the security risks with this? I know I’m pretty paranoid by nature, but I’d be a bit nervous linking anything to my Gmail account.

@t.l.p: Nope. Your not the only one. I’ve yet to have seen any purpose twitter could have in my life.

Wave was groundbreaking, no one uses it though bc they’re too used to normal email/Gmail. Now…if they were to integrate Wave into your gmail account, that would make things so much easier.

Why doesn’t google just buy facebook?

For people with Android phones with other people they know who have android phones as well(unless this is just me, but I doubt it), Google Talk already replace text messaging and all other IM clients. If two people both have Android phones, I don’t think there’s a more efficient/convenient form of text-based communication in existence.

Gmail has always been infinitely more useful than Facebook anyway. But the day I start getting updates from the facebook addict that decided to be cool by posting inane updates on facebook AND Gmail, that is the day I will quit the interwebs for good.

@Purple Umpteenth: “Was”? Wave still hasn’t really been rolled out yet. I suppose 6 months ago you thought google voice was a failure too?
MarcusMaximus
@t.l.p: It’s a mass texting of your facebook status up the the second. Otherwise. No use.
CommentingpointlesslyisMeh
@Purple Umpteenth: Except nobody uses it yet.

I bet this’ll be as groundbreaking as Wave was.

I think I’m the only one that doesn’t see the need for twitter.
