I now have the eee pc 1008h – which has the 160 gig hard drive.
Runs very fast with Windows XP. I use the google chrome browser which is also very fast.
How does it work for you with SP3, IE8 and all the latest updates? Mine runs slow as heck even with 8gb SSD and 1gb of Ram. It seems XP SP3 brought these to a screeching halt.
It depends on which version Asus you have. If it has windows, upgrade the Ram to at least 1qig for faster performance. Easy to do.
i have the asus bt the browser id rly slow is there a way u can speed it up
They sell many versions, some with Windows, some with Linux.
Sounds like you have the Linux version.
I GOT 4 GIG BUT NO WINDOWS XP
I’ve got a asus 1000ha – 160 gig, windows xp, web cam, 1 gig – $380at Amazon
Great computer
i’m texting from my 1002ha – 160 gigs hd – bgn-wifi – all for 500 bucks – go buy one now – asus 1002ha – get it
Your browser is fast because of your internet connect, hasn’t anything to do with with the computer (perhaps a bit)
That was the 4G. The next one I’m going to get is the Asus N10 – about the same form factor, but larger 10″ screen, near full size keyboard, 250gig HD, 15 hour battery.
Great video. Is that the 2G SURF?
Record a video using the webcam or a Youtube video?
Search google for ‘eee pc forum’, and you’ll find a huge site filled with tips for the eee pc
hey I’m watching this on my eee pc!
i have installed windows XP
i was wondering if anyone knows how to record a video once you have installed it???
comment me on my profile please
xx
Yes, you can upgrade the memory, the max depends on the model.
And be sure to look at the EEE PC 1000H – it has a 160Gig HD, Windows XP pre-installed, and upgradeable RAM
ah ryt, thanks, and you said you upgraded the memory, can it go higher? to say 2056? Im no expert with these things, but i presume ram upgrades are specific to the laptop yeh?
The video is about 6 months old.
Since then, Asus has come out with 3 new models of the EEE PC, including the latest which is the EEE PC 1000H.
Prices on the original model have dropped, and the newest model is available for around $460 (US).
Is this an old video? cos ive seen better model of the eee pc for under 200 pounds. or is this guy talkin in dolars?
Nice review.
Thanks Bill
I agree, you can purchase full size laptops for the same or less money than one of these.
But if you need small size, the EEE PC is a good choice. And they do now offer one with a 10″ screen.
Photoshop CS2 i think takes up less than a gig of space on my IBM. The processor is 500 Mhz P3 with 192 MB RAM, so it can run (and runs fats kinda.) These seems like a better computer to be used as like a portable desktop to plug in external perpherials. For me, the 7″ screen is way too tiny even at any res. You can get an IBM Thinkpad T40 for less than the EEE!
Asus makes several larger laptops – including a 10″ version of the EEE PC
thats too small
D:
Very good to take in your car, hotels, train plane etc nice i will get one
.
I still rather buy it with linux pre-installed. I heard that with the windows version you don’t get a copy of windows along with it, but with the linux version you get a commercial copy of xandros linux. Besides, I use linux anyway.
